Urban cycle route - Behind the history of Snina

Interesting moments, historical places, but also monuments of Snina presented by the city cycle route Behind the history of Snina No. 8905 - yellow signthrough nine stops. It starts at the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in John Paul II Square, from where you will reach the monument to the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic in the 1st May Park. The third stop of the cycle route is the Rholl family chapel on Viničný Hill, near which there are also eight stops of the Calvary. The other four were removed from the site due to the construction of the railway line. Near the chapel you will also find the Jewish cemetery.

From there, the trail leads along the Cirocha River to the statue of St. John of Nepomuk, the patron saint of ships, sailors and bridges. You will continue to classicistic manor house with historical park, which houses a fountain with a statue of Hercules. You can learn more about the modern history of the town at the Orthodox church in the Brehy locality. In particular, you will get information about the settlement of Snina after the eviction of several villages due to the construction of Starina - the largest drinking water reservoir in Central Europe.

The next stops are the military epidemic cemetery from World War I and the Snina narrow gauge railway, which is the beginning of the cycle route along the Snina narrow gauge railway (green sign, number 5884). End of the route is the Mill Pond, which has a characteristic name because there was once a water mill there.
