The National Nature Reserve Palotská jedlina is located in the cadastral territory of the municipality of Palota, in the district of Medzilaborce, on an area of 157.15 ha. The 5th degree of protection applies on its territory.
The original fir beech forests in NPR Palotská jedlina are an important and valuable component of the forests of this area. Especially when it comes to indigenous natural forests with a forest-like structurewhere, in addition to beech and fir, other valuable deciduous trees are also used. Estimated age of stands in the reserve is estimated at 140 years, in some dishes even 200 years.
Native forest stands are also a suitable environment for protected and endangered animal species, of which the Carpathian Siskin, Long-tailed Owl, Long-eared Owl, Wolf of prey, Lynx and Brown Bear live in the Palotská Jedlina National Park.
Among the plants, the typical companions of the beech and fir-beech forest vegetation stages are mainly represented, namely mountain fescue, marigold, blackberry, and heart-leaved honeysuckle.
At present, no hiking trail passes through the Palotská Jedlina reserve, so access to it is strictly forbidden.
