Do you love capturing special moments with your camera? and do you want to share them with others too? Join the ‘Go and Take Photos 2026’ challenge!
The popular ‘Go and Take a Photo’ competition, organised by the North-East Slovakia Regional Tourism Organisation, presents a space for the most striking photographs of the Prešov Region. It invites both amateur and professional photographers to capture the region’s exceptional places, people, nature and atmosphere. The competition traditionally culminates in a gala awards ceremony combined with an exhibition opening and a travelling exhibition of selected photographs.
The winners of the competition will be decided by composed of professionals a panel of experts, chaired by Jano Štovka MQEP – a well-known Slovak photographer with numerous international awards to his name. Attractive prizes await the winning photographers again this year. The winner Grand Prix will receive high-quality walking boots from a Slovak company BOSP.

The price itself will also award The Jozef Maximilián Petzval Museum in Spišská Belá. A museum dedicated to a world-renowned pioneer photography and optics will choose their favourite from among the entries and award it a special prize. More about the museum
This year, a special category of the competition is dedicated to young talents aged 15 and under - Children are taking photos. Entries must be submitted by the children’s legal guardians.
The 14th edition of the competition runs until 11 October 2026. The aim of the competition is to promote awareness of and raise the profile of the Prešov Region through original photography, and to showcase its unique natural, cultural and social features.
Competition rules
Photographs in all categories must be taken exclusively within the Prešov Region and must come from from 2025 and 2026.
The competition is held in the following categories:
- Landscape photography
- Fauna & flora
- Architecture
- Culture, traditions and history
- Man and region
- Experiences and leisure (festivals, events, sport…)
- Children are taking photos – a special category for photographs taken by children (aged 15 and under), entered into the competition by their legal guardians.
Each author may submit a total of up to 7 photographs. Each photograph may be entered in only one category.

How to get involved
Registration is in progress exclusively via registration form published on our website. As part of the registration process, participants must fill in the required details, upload photographs and confirm their acceptance of the competition rules. Registration deadline: 11 October 2026 (inclusive)
Digital photographs may also be submitted to the competition scanned photographs from 35mm film. Generative AI is not permitted – you must not create, add to or replace the content of a scene (people, objects, backgrounds, etc.) using generative AI tools.

Every photograph can be a unique story that showcases the beauty of a place, its people and the experiences it offers – and we look forward to sharing these stories with visitors and residents of the region alike. In the special ‘Children Take Photos’ category, we’re also giving young photographers aged 15 and under the chance to show the region through children’s eyes.,“ adds Martin Janoško, director of KOCR North-East Slovakia.
