For decades, the memorial to the victims of the Second World War stood in Sabinov facing the arrivals from Prešov. In 2011, it was moved to its current location on Slobody Square.
The author of the monument of the Slovak National Uprising is the academic sculptor Ján Hučko, who created in 1947.
