Educational boards and a fireplace were added to the lookout tower Kamenná Hora Bardejov
Since the beginning of 2018, parents with children have been enjoying another attraction of the region of Bardejov and its surroundings. The goal of their trips has become the restored rBardejov Kamenná Hora lookout tower, which offers a magnificent view of the town of Bardejov.
The lookout tower is easily accessible even for small children. The property itself and the surrounding area provide opportunities for active leisure for the whole family. Those interested can barbecue on the open fireplace next to the lookout tower and sit on the benches. The youngest visitors can expand their knowledge of nature information from the educational boards installed on the first floor of the lookout tower in January this year.
Radomír Jančošek, Director of the Regional Tourism Organisation (OOCR) "ŠARIŠ"- Bardejov, remarks: "Children can playfully match the leaves of the 12 most common tree species on the educational boards, as well as determine which tracks belong to which of the 12 animals of our forests, or get acquainted with 5 national nature reserves and 4 nature reserves in the vicinity of Bardejov. Meaningful spending of free time in the fresh air in a beautiful natural environment is an extremely suitable complement to sitting at the computer or playing with the mobile phone for today's children. The new attraction will further boost the growing tourism in the beautiful natural environment. The route to the restored lookout tower on Kamenná Hora is also popular with spa guests who enjoy nature and unpolluted air, far from industrial centres."
The wooden lookout tower Bardejov Kamenná Hora, restored at the end of 2017 between Bardejovské Kúpele and the town of Bardejov, required a total cost of EUR 17,942. The amount of EUR 11,100 was contributed by KOCR Northeast of Slovakia and the rest was co-financed by OOCR "ŠARIŠ" Bardejov. The lookout tower is the dominant feature of the lower part of Kamenna hora and is the onlyeasily accessible by the red hiking trail from the spa and Bardejov, because it is directly on this used tourist highway.
The surroundings of Bardejov and Bardejov Spa have become an attractive location for children and adults cyclists, runners and hikers and for family tourism in the last three years. Last October, a third healing singletrack was added in the spa and its surroundings, this time designed for families with children and therefore also called FAMILY singletrack. It was named, like one of the previous ones, after the healing spring of the Bardejov Spa - Lekársky singletrack.
The length of the five interconnected trails, built and maintained, totals more than 8 km. It consists of three healing singletracks - Lekárský, Napoleon and Čerešenka, Oxygen road Mihalov - Bardejov a Oxygen track in Bardejov Spa. All routes are now fully functional, marked and currently used by the public for cycling, exercise, hiking and walking.
The length of marked hiking trails around the spa is 35 km. Healing singletracks attract to Bardejovské kúpele, a. s., clients who use their free time actively in the saddle of a bicycle and by running. The attractiveness of the spa for families with children and young visitors was also increased last year with the opening of the second stage of the relaxation and sports zone for children in front of the trade and services centre.
