BARDEJOV (7 December 2016) - The second stage of the healing singletrack has been completed in the vicinity of Bardejov Spa. The first stage of the second stage of the a new tourist track for cyclists and pedestrians. The new route is called Napoleon, after one of the springs in Bardejov Spa and the term "healing singletrack" also suggests a link to the spa. The Napoleon Trail will officially open next spring, but the public can use it now.
Singletrack Napoleon required a total cost of EUR 14,700 and is a continuation of the first stage of Čerešenko built a year ago. The reconstruction was financed by the Regional Tourism Organization (OOCR) "Šariš" - Bardejov, the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic also contributed.
The director of OOCR "Šariš" - Bardejov Radomír Jančošek said: "The construction of both stages was carried out by Beatrice Plus, s.r.o.. The second phase ran from October to the end of November 2016 and follows the first stage of the singletrack called Čerešenka. This was completed a year ago in December 2015 and connected the Oxygen track in Bardejovské Kúpele with the Čerešňa saddle, which is located in the locality of the Mníchovský brook."
The length of the Napoleon route is 1650 m, with an elevation gain of 140 vertical metres. Together with Čerešenka, they form a compact 3 km long cyclo-route. The route will be used for cycling for (mountain) cyclists. "There are more and more spa guests who learn about the route and plan to take a mountain bike on their next visit to the spa and discover the beauty of Bardejov and the surrounding area," added Jančošek. Already now this circuit serves and runnerswho like to run their kilometres in a healthy way - on a soft natural surface.
Healing singletracks are characterized by an aligned natural surface. There are artificial, specially built obstacles - terrain waves, jumps of various sizes, knobby turns, fast passages and technical stone sections and bridges. All of these obstacles can be avoided or crossed without problems even for less skilled cyclists.
Two large information boards with a map of the spa, singletrack and oxygen route and seven directional arrows were also installed in the area to direct tourists from the cycle path in the spa to the start of the singletrack. Riding is at your own risk. "In one year of operation, the first stage of Cherry has gained its fans, but we intend to promote the healing singletracks more massively in order to multiply the number of visitors. The singletracks in the vicinity of Bardejov will consist of Comprehensive trail system for mountain and trekking bikes in a suburban forest environment," informed R. Jančošek.
In October this year, another attraction in the region was completed and opened to the public, which is Oxygen road Mihalov - Bardejov. Nineteen exercise and relaxation stations are located on the almost three kilometre long trail, which are complemented by information boards and tourist shelters. In the vicinity of Bardejov, since 2014, there are also Oxygen path in Bardejovské Kúpele. It is 1 km long and has fourteen stations with relaxation and movement exercises.
Since July, a life-size bronze statue of an executioner has adorned the Town Hall Square in Bardejov and a new relaxation and sports zone for the youngest tourists and families with children has been added in the centre of Bardejov Spa, in front of the Trade and Services Centre.
