The singing of birds, the rustling of trees or the sound of the forest. Nature lovers can enjoy all this thanks to the 4-meter wooden megaphone. When one sits in it, the sounds of the surrounding nature are multiplied, which has a beneficial effect on the soul. A unique attraction near Prešov can be found in the Slanské vrchy Mountains.
The wooden megaphone stands near the cycle path connecting Prešov with the surrounding villages, approximately one km behind the village of Zlatá Baňa in the Dark Forest, 200 m from the gazebo and fireplace.

Megaphone has no competition in Central or Western Europe. Only the Estonians have a similar one. Four young people from the civic association Voice of the Forest came up with the idea to create it. Their goal is to get more tourists to the attractive parts of the forest in the east of our country. The attraction was opened to the public on 1 September 2019.
One can sit in the megaphone and immediately absorb the sounds of nature. The enormous 2.5 tonne structure is shaped like a nine-sided icicle, and deliberately so.
The core of the megaphone consists of seven rings, which consist of 63 parts in total. The rings are connected by three four-metre prisms. This shape has the property of concentrating the rays and waves reflecting off its walls into a single point. A person sitting near this point hears amplified sounds coming from the surroundings and he can comfortably listen to what the forest is telling him.

Promoting tourism in the region
The unique project was created with the support of the municipality of Zlatá Baňa and the Birell brand.
"The municipality contributed to the civic association with land in our cadastre, and at the same time we thank the Birell brand, which covered the financial costs of the construction of the megaphone with the sum of 2905 euros," said the mayor of Zlatá Baňa Maroš Železník.
