The Polish Gate in Levoča was added to the western wall of the Gymnasium Church and the inner belt of the city walls. It probably dates back to the 15th century.
Tower with gothic passage It was initially used for defence, later it also had bells. In fact, it was never a city gate and in the past it was also called Gate under one tower or Monastery Tower.
Twelve watchmen were on duty every night on the walls, four trumpeters and one herald on the church tower, because the church towers and the town hall served as the best observation posts.
The Polish Gate in Levoča was restored in 1981 - 1982.
