Mountain Hotel Popradské Pleso* (former Chata kpt. Morávka) is situated in the picturesque surroundings of the Mengusov valley in the Tatra National Park, on the shore of Popradské Pleso, near Štrbské Pleso, at an altitude of 1 494 m. Its equipment is more like a mountain hotel than a mountain chalet. It provides accommodation for a diverse clientele - from apartments for those looking for greater comfort to renting a place to sleep for undemanding tourists. The total capacity is 165 beds. In addition to accommodation, there is a restaurant, a Slovak room, a Finnish sauna, a wellness bath, a reception with sale and rental of mountaineering equipment, a souvenir shop, a currency exchange, a ski storage room, a drying room, a terrace, and a billiard room.
Popradské pleso is the starting point for all major hiking tours in the High Tatras (e.g. Rysy or Kôprovský štít) and the Symbolic Cemetery of the victims of the High Tatras is located nearby. There are several hiking trails leading to the chalet at Popradské Pleso. From Štrbské Pleso it is a comfortable easy hike lasting about 1 hour along a green marked hiking trail. Other approaches to the cottage are from the Popradské pleso stop, from Sliezský dom, from Podbanský, or from the crossroads above the Žabí brook.
For pedestrians: you can go to the Mountain Hotel Popradské pleso along the hiking trail (red and green hiking trail) from Štrbské Pleso, which takes about 2 hours and covers a distance of about 5 km.
In addition, you can also use the asphalt road, which starts at the Popradské pleso tram station (blue tourist sign), which takes 1:40 hours and is 4.2 km long. This route is suitable for families with children, with a basket, on a bicycle or in winter on skis.
