Everyone in Stropkov knows where the manor house is, but few know where Stropkov Castle is. And yet it is the same place - the manor house is the last preserved secular part of the town castle, which has disappeared from the face of the earth and from people's consciousness.
The medieval castle in Stropkov was built in the 15th century by the then owners of the town, the Peréňovci. However, it flourished only under the next owners - the Pete family, who, unlike their predecessors, lived here. The castle had the form of a pentagon with five towers, a parish church and a manor house at its core. The castle was destroyed in 1814 by burning and the walls were gradually dismantled for building materials.
The Stropkov manor house has undergone significant structural modifications. Its most valuable part with preserved Renaissance features is the so-called. Knight's Hall.
The town of Stropkov, which is the current owner of the monument, provided the ground floor and the attic of the building for museum purposes.
