The Domaša reservoir is situated in the Ondava Highlands, on the Ondava River. Introducing the largest water area in Upper Zemplín, which is also accessible to the public in terms of recreation. It was built more than 50 years ago.
The flooded area is 1,510 hectares. It is 14 km long, 4 km wide and 25 m deep on average. The larger part of it is located in the Vranov region and the smaller part in the Stropkov region. district. The construction of the waterworks began in 1962 and was completed in 1967. The villages of Dobrá nad Ondavou, Kelča, Petejovce, Trepec, Veľká Domaša, Valkov and part of the villages of Bžany and Turany nad Ondavou were flooded by the construction of the waterworks. Only some buildings survived, such as the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the displaced village of Trepec, the Baroque-rock Church of St. Stephen the King in Kelča.
It is divided into several recreation centres: Dobrá, Poľany (Monika), Holčíkovce (Eva), Nová Kelča. Valkov, Tišavawhere accommodation and catering services are available. Water sports can also be offered. Thanks to the opening of the dam, you can walk from Monika to Dobrá in a few minutes. It is only open to hikers and cyclists.
