The Šindliar Nature Reserve, declared protected in 1993, is located in the Branisko Mountains, west of the village of Šindliar.
The forest cover consists of a varied coniferous forest with a predominance of spruce, larch, fir, pine and birch. Particularly important is the rich bryoflora component - various mosses and peat bogs. The undergrowth is dominated by cranberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) and cranberry (Vaccinium vitis-idaea).
