Under the name Rakytovské pleso there are three moraine lakes about 300 m from the Rakytovec hill and 2.4 km from Štrbské pleso.
Upper Rakytovské pleso It lies at an altitude of 1355 m, has a depth of 1 m and an area of 0.08 ha. Lower Rakytovské pleso (Štúrovo pleso) is situated at an altitude of 1311 m, its depth is 2 m and its area is 0.22 ha.
Small Rakytovské pleso (Richthofenovo pleso in the past) is located at an altitude of 1311 m above sea level, it is 2 m deep and its area is 0.13 ha.
All three mountain resorts lie in the Furkotská valley, which is surrounded by the ridges Ostrá, Solisko and Furkotský štít. The beautiful, terraced, over 5 km long valley offers, in addition to the Furkotské pleso, also the Nižné Wahlenbergo pleso, Vyšné Wahlenbergo pleso and the Furkotský brook flowing through it.
Tourist route
The ideal starting point for hiking in the Furkot valley is Štrbské pleso. From the valley there is a hiking trail leading to Bystrý sedlo and further to Mlynická valley. From the Furkotská valley it is possible to get to the cottage, which lies on the ridge of Solisko.
