Pieniny lime trees

The Pieniny lindens stand majestically on the banks of the Dunajec River near the Red Monastery National Cultural Monument. Their number has been reduced from the original 22 to 18 by natural decline. Some of the old lindens reach a circumference of around 600 cm.

Because of their age and size, they are very valuable and deserve proper protection, which is also provided in the form of special care.

In 1972 they were declared a protected area. At present, as important habitats, they are part of the protection zone B with the fourth degree of protection.
