Monument to the former owner of the Makovice castle estate Gašpar II. Šeredy was built in 1566 as a reminder of his death the cause of an alleged heart failure in the same year. The monument was commissioned by his wife Anna, née Mérei. It stands at the crossroads between the town and the Dlhá Lúka part of the town under an old spreading lime tree.
It is said that one of the owners of Zborov Castle, Gašpar Šeredy, had his heart broken from grief on this spot. He sold his castle to Rákoczi for one thousand gold coins. The condition was that all the coins to be paid for had to be minted in Transylvania in one year. Since so many coins had not been minted in Transylvania for several years, he was convinced that Rákoczy would not fulfill the condition. Unfortunately, he was wrong. He received the agreed amount on the exact day and had to hand over the castle to its new owner. As he was leaving the castle, saddened, he turned around to see his beloved castle once more, and his heart broke with grief at the place where the monument was erected.
