Marhaň Manor
The Šariš region offers many attractive places and monuments that are an attraction for both domestic and foreign visitors. One of them is the manor house in the village of Marhaň.
The village of Marhaň is located 25 kilometres from the town of Bardejov. The name of the village comes from its first owner or commander. The variants Margón, Margóna, Margala were used. Over the centuries, the village belonged to various noble families - from the Abos to the Soós and others to the Dessewffys. There were originally two manor houses in the village, but the newer one has never been inhabited. The older manor house was built in the 1830s by Andrej Dessewffy the younger. Perhaps the most famous of this family is Arisztid Dessewffy - the son of Gaspar, who was in 1848 a general of Honvéd, but was convicted by a military court and executed in Araba on 6.9.1849. His remains were brought to the local tomb.
