PREŠOV (7 September 2016) - World Tourism Day will be commemorated in the Prešov Region on 24 September in the sports complex at Štrbské Pleso. The event combines the culmination of the summer campaigns of the Prešov Region, the Coronation of the King and the Run for the Tatras.
Tourist competitions LEGENDARY 2 a Discover the Prešov Region 2016 culminating on Saturday 24. 9. 2016 awarding of prizes to the winners on the stage in the sports complex at Štrbské Pleso. At the same time there will be Coronation of the King of the Prešov Region with Portal Theatre. The absolute winner of the competition with the LEGENDARIUM 2 mobile app, who has located all 60 legendary locations in the county and recorded the most points in the game, will become the king. The event will be accompanied by a cultural programme and popular mascots will also be present.
The event continues Running for the Tatras for children and adults. Part of the participation fee goes to for planting trees in the Tatras, that's why the race is in the spirit of the motto: Come, run, help! There is also a discipline of running with a dog, for the little ones running from mushroom to mushroom, a raffle and a lot of fun.

World Tourism Day falls on 27 September. On this day in 1979, the statutes of the World Tourism Organisation were adopted and it is also the day when the main tourist season in the northern hemisphere ends and the season in the southern hemisphere begins. World Tourism Day is usually celebrated by the organisations on the next anniversary weekend, in the Prešov Region it will be on Saturday 24 September 2016.
