This summer a new, original, Slovak, kind comedy Kavej, from the pen of screenwriter Michaela Zakutjanska and directed by Lukáš Zednikovič, will be released in cinemas. The funny and often bizarre situations in which two friends from eastern Slovakia find themselves do not only offer first-rate entertainment, but also show the absurdity of prejudices, the true value of friendship and break stereotypes.
The film Kavej is the story of two friends from eastern Slovakia - Klára and Veronika, who after a long time decide to travel from Bratislava, where they currently live, back home to the east for family and friendship reunions at a funeral and three weddings. During their visit, they get into absurd situations that turn their lives upside down. Whether they manage to find love, happiness and, last but not least, the meaning of life, will be seen in cinemas in July.
"With this film, we are not only bringing the viewers first-rate entertainment, but we are also trying to point out the senselessness of prejudices and stereotypes that often hold us back in life. Through humour, Kavej tells the story of how we ourselves may sometimes complicate our lives and fail to see what is of real value. It is about love, friendship and family," says director Lukáš Zednikovič.
The main roles will be played by Anička Jakab Rakovská and Janka Kovalčiková. In the film, the audience will also see Eva Pavlíková, Dominika Kavaschová, Dana Droppová, Lýdia Ondrušová, Lenka Barilíková Spišáková, Pavel Šimun, Tomáš Turek, Branislav Matuščina, Domi Haly and many others.

Before the film appears in all good Slovak cinemas from 18 July, a delegation of KAVEJ will go to see its fans. Actors, director, main cameraman, screenwriter, film crew, as well as other guests invited by the filmmakers for special events COFFEE FESTY, will start a series of events in Slovak amphitheatres, where the audience can expect an attractive programme full of music, entertainment, interviews and stand-ups.
