These are the most beautiful photos of Presov region 2019

The photographic competition Go and take pictures from the workshop of the Regional Tourism Organisation of the North-East of Slovakia has successfully written its next chapter. The seventh edition of the competition for the most beautiful shots from the Prešov Region received 431 entries. Most of them were in the Nature category.

Traditionally, the photos were divided into several categories - Black & white; Culture, traditions and history; Nature; Sport and sports activities. The winners were determined by an expert jury, chaired once again by Jano Štovka (MQEP), who is also the vice-president of APFSR (Association of Professional Photographers of the Slovak Republic).

This year's photo competition was, in my opinion, very fruitful. Together with my colleagues we had the opportunity to see many excellent photographs, that were really hard to rate and appreciate. We really struggled to determine the order of the photos. I'm very happy to see and feel that photographers think and try to get to places that are not quite ordinarywhere some physical activity is also required," says Jano Štovka, who adds: "They try to choose the angles so that the photographs are as interesting as possible. On behalf of me and the jury I express admiration to all involved and I look forward to next year's competition.

Other members of the jury were Martin Krystýnek (MQEP, chairman of APFSR), Stano Mihalík (member of APFSR, FAC photo studio Prešov) and Ladislav Biath (Ephoto Slovakia).

The task of professional and amateur photographers was to capture beauties and attractions of the Prešov region. Again this year, the highest number of entries was in the Nature category (222). Among the favourite locations were national parks and breathtaking viewsthat north-eastern Slovakia can be proud of. From the category of nature came also the picture awarded with the jury chairman's prize, whose author is Lucia Petrusova:

The photo of the frozen Štrbské pleso was taken in beautiful sunny weather, when the so-called aurora borealis (haze) peeked above the frozen pleso. As they say, the man was in the right place at the right time. The photography was done with the help of a tripod and searching for the right composition, where the very scenery of nature and people made a beautiful symbiosis of the image, in this case a photograph. I believe that this award will push me further in my progress and improvement in photography. I have admired the work of the jury chairman, Jan Štovka, for a long time. His photos are amazing and inspiring and I am all the more pleased to have received such an honour from a great photographer. The competition is an excellent project for the visibility of the north-east of Slovakia, I am a proud eastern woman and I am glad that I can support the domestic tourism of our picturesque region in this way, I am already looking forward to next year's competition.

Photographers also focused their lenses on local people, whom they tried to capture in specific activities with the intention of immortalizing the power of the moment.

KOCR Northeast of Slovakia is, of course, pleased that interest in this competition grows every year. Individual places in the Prešov region are very photogenic, so we will continue with the campaign next year. Every year we look forward to unique, often breathtaking images. As in the past, the public can see them in a travelling exhibition, said Martin Janoško, Executive Director of KOCR North-East of Slovakia.

In addition to the winners in the individual categories were selected also the final photos. Together with the winning images, this is a total of 47 shots. From among them, the public chooses the most popular photo in the online voting, which will take place from 21 November to 6 December 2019 on the North-East of Slovakia Facebook page.

The final photos will be part of travelling exhibition Go and take pictures 2019. The first goal will be, as every year, Jonáš Záborský Theatre in Prešov. The exhibition will kick off with an opening with the participation of the authors of the photographs, which will take place on 17 December 2019 at 17.00. Next year the exhibition will travel to various places in Slovakia and abroad.
