Relax in nature, discover cultural monuments, breathe in the clean air of northern Spiš and Pieniny. Here are seven tips for trips you can enjoy even in winter.
Ľubovnian Castle
The most visited castle in the Prešov region is open for visitors during the winter: November - February: (Tuesday - Sunday) 10.00 - 15.00, last entry at 14.00. From March: (Tuesday - Sunday) 10.00 - 16.00, last entry at 15.00. The open-air museum is open in winter for pre-registered groups of more than 30 people.
Nestville Park
The exposition of distilling and traditional folk crafts is located only 5 km west of Stara Ľubovňa. In the former smallest town of Hungary, in the village of Hniezdne, visitors can learn in one place the history and origins of northern Spiš as well as the real life and exceptional skills of the people living in this area. It was here that the first Slovak whisky was created, which is produced using a similar technology to the "gořalka" once produced in the Ľubovňa estate. In the winter months it is open to visitors from October to April (Tuesday - Sunday): 10.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m..
Nestville chocolate
The Chocolate Kingdom is a part of Nestville Park in Hniezdno. As the only chocolate factory in the region, it offers a delicious taste of quality chocolate and introduces people to the history, processing and production of various chocolate specialties.
House of the townsman of Ľubovnian
The house is located on St. Nicholas Square in the centre of Stara Ľubovňa. It presents the life of the town's inhabitants at the end of the 19th century through a demonstration of the style of living, blueprint workshops, crafts and guilds. The exhibition also includes a mint.
Spa Červený Kláštor - Smerdžonka
The spa offers warm baths in the healing Smerdzonke or other types of baths such as oil, herbal, saturated, Finnish sauna or infrared sauna, complemented by salt therapy, heat therapy and various types of massages. From the beautiful area there is a great view of the picturesque Pieniny Mountains and the Three Crowns.
Red Monastery Museum
The Carthusian Monastery in the picturesque Pieniny Mountains hides gothic treasures and valuable expositions. There are several museum exhibitions in the monastery. The most important exhibits include herbarium of Cyprian the Phracian of the year 1766. In the period 1.11.2018 - 28.2.2019 the museum exhibition is open from 10.00 to 16.00, last entry at 15.30. The museum will be closed from 17 - 26 December 2018
Mount Zvir
A place of peace and prayer in the region of northern Spiš and Pieniny, located above the village of Litmanová. It is ready to welcome visitors throughout the year.
