Museums and galleries of the PSK are ready for the summer season

Exhibitions and events of various character await visitors of cultural organizations under the jurisdiction of the Prešov Self-Governing Region this year. Museums and galleries are attracted to the proven classics, but they also want to bet on novelties.

Ľubovnian Museum - castle in Stara Ľubovna

Although it is still early in the year, the museum is already planning the opening of the summer tourist season, at the turn of April and May. During the summer, visitors will be able to experience, for example, the castle theatre with songs, the castle festival or the concert of the Kandráč family. In November, an international conference on castles and castle estates is planned. In the next few weeks, the museum is expected to launch the publication Ethnographic Notebooks of Ján Lazorík Dances and Games. 

Museum in Kežmarok

The popular castle and museum premises in Kežmarok will open the summer tourist season at the turn of April and May. Even before that, a magical experience of the Easter season is prepared - the Stations of the Cross in the courtyard of Kežmarok Castle (Good Friday). In June, it will take part in the European Days of Archaeology and the Festival of Student Craft. During the summer, it will present the traditional evening theatre performance Bloody History and a rich cultural programme as part of the Medieval Day at Kežmarok Castle.

Podtatranské Museum in Poprad

Visitors to the Podtatranské Museum in Poprad will be able to experience Saturday with the Prince and the Summer Reading Room during the summer. In May, they can also enjoy the Five Senses in the Garden event as part of the Weekend of Open Parks and Gardens. In September, the Days of History and Traditions will feature swordsmen and a period band, and children can also enjoy archery.

Tatra Gallery in Poprad

For the first time ever, art enthusiasts in Slovakia will be able to see the unique exhibition Šrobár's Collection, which consists of works by masters of the 18th and 19th centuries. The exhibition will be open Tatra Gallery in Poprad already during the summer season. In addition, it is planning a summer day camp for children and wants to continue with various events in the international Art&Holocaust project.

Šariš Museum in Bardejov

The Šariš Museum in Bardejov, which celebrated its 120th anniversary, is preparing an exceptional programme. On this occasion, it offers the general public until mid-March guided tours of the exhibition compiled from the most important items of the museum's collection. The summer tourist season will open in May in the open-air museum in Bardejovské Kúpele with demonstrations of ceramics, and in summer it will organise a craft fair and a show of Rusyn and Šariš songs and dances.

It also celebrates Vihorlat Museum in Humenne. Specifically its open-air museum - Exposition of Folk Architecture and Housing, which will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its opening.

Manor house and archaeopark Hanušovce nad Topľou

It will also be live in archaeopark in Hanušovce nad Topľouwhere the Holiday in Prehistory will take place. However, those interested will have to wait for a visit to the manor house. It will be closed for renovation until the end of the year.

Prešov: Regional Gallery and Regional Museum

Still accessible is Regional Museum in Prešov, where the regular Summer with Rákocim for holidaying children is being prepared.

Regional Gallery in Prešov is preparing several exhibitions of contemporary art from its own workshop this year, which deal with the reflection of the ecological crisis. In addition, it is preparing an exhibition of the Baroque painter Jacob Bogdani, active at the English court but originally from Prešov. This is in cooperation with the Slovak National Gallery on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of his death.

Also remains closed for reconstruction Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art in Medzilaborce. However, the works of the world-famous artist will not be put away in depositories. Foreign and domestic exhibitions are in preparation, the paintings should be exhibited in Poland or France, but also in our capital, Bratislava.
