The long weekend in the mountains will still be marked by spring skiing. Resorts in the High Tatras and Jasná are scheduled to operate during the next two extended weekends (29.4. - 1.5. and 6. - 8.5.).
In the High Tatras, the slopes at Štrbské Pleso and Lomnický sedlo will be open during the next extended weekend (Sat-Mon).
"At Štrbské Pleso we will ski on the Solisko and Furkotka ski slopes, the ski slope in Lomnickom saddle will also be open. In addition to skiers, other visitors and families with children will surely enjoy the May Day, which will bring many interesting activities," informed Dušan Slavkovský, director of the High Tatras mountain resort.
Guests in the Tatras can look forward to animations and a concert for the little ones with Usmievanka, spring specialties in restaurants, from 1.5. in case of favourable conditions also a fun ride on mountain carriages from Start to Tatranská Lomnica. Apart from the above-mentioned extended weekends, the cable cars in Tatranská Lomnica will be in spring maintenance until 19.5., the Solisko Expres cable car on Štrbské Pleso will be in weekend operation until 9.6. The only cableway that runs daily in the High Tatras is the funicular from Starý Smokovec to Hrebienok.
In Jasná, spring skiing will be prepared on the north and south side of Chopok.
"We will be skiing the groomed tracks Chopok - Priehyba and Chopok - Kosodrevina, which will be served by cable cars so that skiers and pedestrians from Liptov and Horehronie can get to Chopok," informed the director of the Jasná resort Jiří Trumpeš.
The resort's lifts will be in spring maintenance during weekdays, and will be open on weekends and May holidays in May.
On the open slopes in Jasná and in the High Tatras there is from 30cm to 1.5m of snow. Skiers as well as other visitors to mountain resorts can take advantage of the offer of accommodation with ski passes or lift tickets and entrances to water parks (Tatralandia, Bešeňová) in the price of stays during the weekends.
