Gorals invite to the unique event Goral na Gory

In Stary Smokovec, Gorals from 3 countries, 6 Goral regions and more than 20 Goral villages will meet.

On Saturday, 30 September, under the auspices of the Mayor of the High Tatras, Ján Mokoš, the 2nd annual event will take place Highlander to the mountains. After a successful 1st year, the main item on the agenda is once again symbolic ascent of the Gorals - this time from Starý Smokovec to Hrebienok. The event is ready for the Gorals from all mountain regions of Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland as well as fans of the Goral culture and visitors to the Tatras.

The event is organized by the non-profit organization Restoration of Cultural Traditions, n. o. from the village of Hniezdne. Its aim is, through this event, at least once a year to bring together all the goral regions from Slovakia and abroad, as well as lovers of goral folklore and traditional culture in one place. "The symbolic ascent commemorates the historical wandering of the highlanders during the Wallachian colonization from their homeland on the Romanian-Ukrainian border through the Carpathian Arch and the gradual settlement of the mountain and foothill areas of the Slovak-Polish-Czech border region.," said Frederik Packa on behalf of the organisers.

Participants will meet at the parking lot of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary in the vicinity of the valley station of the cable car to Hrebienok. The event starts at 9.00 a.m. The aim of this year's climb is the Szilágyi pavilion - the first tourist object on Hrebienok built in 1904.

After the return of the Gorals from the climb back to the centre of the action, at 13.00 hrs. rich cultural programme on the main stage. For those who do not participate in the tourist march, there are prepared in Stary Smokovec examples of customs and customs of the Gorals from Kysuce, Orava, Spiš, Liptov, Czech Republic and Poland. Those interested in traditional crafts they can peek into the secrets of weaving, carving, tinkering or basket weaving. From the very morning, visitors will be able to see traditional highlander dishes - black pea soup, yeast soup, polesníky, bryndza soup, cheese korbáčiky and others. Children are invited to unconventional theatre performance called Goral Fairy Tales performed by Zamagur theatre RAMAGU. For the mayors of Goral villages there is a competition "For the strongest, fastest and brightest mayor". So far 18 mayors have promised to participate in the competition.
