Enjoy your holiday on a "bajku" in the Prešov region

The Prešov Self-Governing Region and the Regional Tourism Organisation of the North-East of Slovakia have prepared for cycling lovers a campaign "Holiday on a bike" in the Prešov Region. The competition provides cyclists with eighteen tips for cycling trips and interesting cycling events in the Prešov Region.

The second year of the Holiday on a bike in the Prešov region is intended for all those who seek active leisure time using a bicycle. Within the campaign, 18 interesting cycling routes across the entire Prešov Region have been selected. They are complemented by a range of diverse cycling events throughout the 2023 season. The competition starts on 1 June and ends on 1 October 2023.

"With this campaign we want to show the perhaps a bit undiscovered corners of our region, which we have a lot of and which are worth discovering. And also to convince the public that holidays can be taken in a different way than they may be used to. At home in our region and on two wheels. In the countryside, at lookout points, on cycle paths and generally on bike trips. The first year of the event proved to be a success and we also saw it as a motivation to attract more and more people into the saddle of a bicycle," said Milan Majerský, Chairman of the PSK.

Cyclists can simply enter the competition by taking a photo of themselves with the competition badge on their bike at the location and uploading the photo to their personal account on the website. cyclo.psk.sk. Cyclists can pick up their badges at any of the five dispensing points in the countyFor everyone who passes at least seven locations, a valuable cycling package is prepared. A visit to three sites involved in the campaign can be replaced by a visit to a maximum of three cycling events taking place in the Prešov Region.

Cyclists are waiting for 18 interesting cycling routes, 225 km and several thousand vertical meters. The routes are divided according to the level of difficulty and are designed for both recreational and experienced cyclists.

The public can find an overview of competitive bike tours and cycling events at cyclo.psk.sk a www.presovregion.travel. Each route has a description including difficulty, route length, time and elevation information.

"Cyclists can enjoy interesting routes that can be combined with visits to tourist attractions in the area. We have chosen, for example, the Starý mlyn waterfalls near Nižný Slavkov, the crypt with the remains of soldiers from World War I in Osadno, the Zborov castle near Bardejov, the church of the displaced village of Trepec near Domáš or the new Malkovská hôrka lookout tower near Prešov. There are also other sites from the High Tatras, Levoča Hills, Pieniny, Čergov, Bukovské and Slanské Hills. From the varied offer of cycling trips there is something for everyone," invites cyclists to get to know the Prešov region Martin Janoško, director of the KOCR Northeast of Slovakia.
