Attractions in the Prešov Region have their own website

Five of the eight UNESCO monuments in Slovakia are located in the Prešov Region. Five national parks and 180 protected areas extend into its territory. It has almost four thousand cultural monuments. This is still not all. For the tourist, the Prešov Region is a paradise of attractions. Castles, chateaux, archaeological sites, spas, pilgrimage sites, nature, cycling routes, art, folklore, culture, sports, adrenaline, technical monuments and dozens of other categories are attractions for tourists and locals. All these attractions of the PSK are now connected to the Polish border region and offer extraordinary experiences, knowledge and excursions for the widest clientele.

The Carpathian Map of Possibilities (karpatskamapa.sk) connects interesting places on the Polish and Slovak sides of the Carpathian Arch. It offers visitors thousands of places to visit. They can choose from categories according to their area of interest. Or by keywords or position on the map. They can follow the route all the way to Poland in search of an interesting topic.

Tailor-made trips

The Carpathian Opportunity Map links points of interest (POI) into thematic routes. Visitors to the site can thus structure their trip according to the area that fascinates them the most. For example, you can follow the Gothic Route, the Health and Beauty Route or the Mining Route. Each route can be chosen according to different criteria, taking into account the mode of transport and one's own hobbies. The routes are made up of points of interest - places that are worthy of attention. However, the visitor does not have to wander only along the routes. They can also choose individual places they would like to visit. Whether it is routes or POIs, each text will further recommend him to other thematically or remotely close places. The portal thus creates endless possibilities for discovering the attractions of the area. Each place and route is recorded in detail on a map with descriptions and GPS coordinates.

The visitor completes the portal

All routes and points are accompanied by interesting articles, photographs and the possibility of interactive participation of the portal visitor. They can add photos, comments and videos of their visits to the website. In addition, there is a calendar of events that regularly take place in the region or thematic area.

Selected routes are included in a printed catalogue (25 000 copies) and a catalogue of cycling routes (10 000 copies).

The project Carpathian Map of Possibilities - joint promotion of tourist, natural and cultural attractiveness of the Lesser Poland-Presov border region is the result of cooperation between the Prešov Self-Governing Region and the Lesser Poland Centre of Culture SOKÓŁ in Nowy Sącz. It is registered under the number WTSL02.01.00-12-057/08 and co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund within the framework of the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Poland-Slovakia 2007-2013.
