PREŠOV/KEŽMAROK (7. 11. 2016) - The autumn of 2016 will be written in big letters in the history of the Kežmarok hotel Hviezdoslav. In the course of the month the hotel received two important awards.
Boutique Hotel Hviezdoslav is located in the heart of historic Kežmarok overlooking the Belianske Tatras. It is housed in four historic buildings from the 17th century in the centre of Kežmarok. It is named after the greatest Slovak writer P. O. Hviezdoslav, who lived and worked in one of the houses while studying at the famous Kežmarok Lyceum. The hotel is a member of the Association of Historical Hotels of Slovakia. Its director Sylvia Holopová was awarded in January 2016 Tourism Personality of the Prešov Region 2015 in the category Business in tourism. In October 2016 with hotel on the Greek island of Santorini became first winner of the category "Host of the Year" in the Historic Hotels Association of Europe poll, less than two weeks later it earned the Doha, Qatar also the Luxury Boutique Hotel 2016 (country winner).
About the winners of the Historic Hotels of Europe Awards was decided this year on 23 October on the Greek island of Santorini. Slovakia represented a very strong sting in the fire, as up to six Slovak historic hotels were nominated. The Association of Historic Hotels of Europe brings together more than 600 hotels from 18 countries, so the nomination of six hotels from the 17-member Slovak national association is a huge success. The Hviezdoslav Hotel has been awarded HOST OF THE YEAR, the most hospitable historic hotel Year 2016.
Winning hotels in the competition World Luxury Hotel Award was selected by visitors from all over the world and an expert jury in three rounds. During the ceremony, when the Kežmarok hotel was not present, the president of the Association of Historical Hotels of Slovakia, Ján Svoboda, received the award in Qatar, who also represented Hotel Elizabeth from Trenčín, which won in the Romantic Hotel category.
"Hotel Hviezdoslav confirmed that Slovak hotels in the quality of service reach the world level and can compete with the world's top, when the number of votes surpassed even such hotels as the 5-star London Hilton Park Lane, or Nassima Royal hotel in Dubai," informed hotel manager Maja Brezinová. The hotel won the award in the category Luxury Boutique Hotel 2016 (country winner). The overall winner was Dubai's Armani Hotel.
"We appreciate the World Luxury Hotel Award immensely, we thank our supporters from all over the world and we thank the staff of the hotel who have won the sympathy of the voters with their approach. This is a great responsibility and a challenge for us in the future. We believe that we will not only maintain but also continue to improve the high standard of service provided by the hotel, while maintaining our motto - A small hotel with a big heart," said the hotel director Sylvia Holopová about the award.
