When there is enough snow, there are many cross-country skiing trails in the foothills of the High Tatras in the vicinity of the villages Veľká Lomnica - Stará Lesná - Nová Lesná, Mengusovce - Štôla - Gerlachov - Batizovce, also in Lopušná Dolina, Liptovská Teplička or Vernár. Choose the most suitable terrain that matches your abilities and skills, enjoy the magnificent views of the Tatra peaks, we recommend you:
Veľká Lomnica, Black Stork Golf Resort
-more than 10km of cross-country skiing trails directly on the golf course with an elevation of 30 m (classic style), also suitable for children; at the moment you can cross the road towards Stara Lesna, run up Patria hill and connect to the Starolesnianske meadows track
-entrance to the trails is free of charge; free parking is available directly at the International**** hotel (restaurant, lobby bar, wellness area)

Old Forest
-Starolesnianske lúky - Tatranská Lomnica: the 8.1 km long circuit from Tatranská Lomnica to Starolesnianske lúky starts at the housing estate and in the first section is part of the trail that leads from Tatranská Lomnica towards Stara Lesna; the track descends from the trail about 250 metres behind the railway line and leads past the hotels and the Astronomical Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences towards the hotels above Stara Lesna, where there is a turntable. It is also possible to get on it from Stara Lesna under the Forton Hotel; suitable for children, both classic and skating style

-running tracks (10 km) are situated on grassy areas to the west of the village, follow the edge of the forest, are characterized by a flat profile with gentle inclines, suitable for classic style and skating, suitable for children
-parking is behind the village (3€ for the whole day via sms), accommodation and catering in the Cherry Orchard Resort
-admission is free with the opportunity to voluntarily support the grooming of the tracks in the box at the entrance gate with the inscription Welcome)
-the nearest ski rental and repair shop is in Gerlachov
-the bus stop is directly in the village of Mengusovce, from there you are on foot in 25 minutes to the beginning of the route

Gerlachov
Tatraheim: Tatranská Polianka - Gerlachov
-currently there are two regularly maintained and marked circuits in Tatraheim (the starting point is either in Tatranská Polianka, under the residential house Lipa - according to the direction signs or from the hotel Hubert, which is located 700m below Tatranská Polianka) 2km and 3 km with an elevation of 50-88m for the classic style
-parking is in Tatranská Polianka (about 10 minutes walk from the start of the track at the Lipa home), accommodation (e.g. hotel Kurthotel TIVOLI), catering and toilets (Kurthotel TIVOLI - has a restaurant)
-entrance to the cross-country ski track is free of charge, parking 3€/full day (payable at the ramp)
-Swixstore cross-country ski rental and repair shop in Gerlachov: ski rental: 10€/day, boot rental: 5€/day, ski pole rental: 3€/day (complete: 15€), service: up to 20€
