Rabštín (Pieniny)

Rabštín, also called Havrania skala, is a limestone peak located at an altitude of 845 m above sea level on the ridge of the Little Pieniny Mountains. Its silhouette is reminiscent of castle ruins.

The origin of the name Havrania skala can be sought on the basis of the records according to which the nesting of the Griffon Vulture was recorded here until 1914. Another interesting fact is the rumour that the Zbojnícká Cave below Rabštín hides treasures collected by bandits who ambushed travellers on the important trade route to Červený Kláštor and at fairs.

The steep slope of Rabštín is overgrown with fir forest and scrub, which makes it difficult to climb to the top. The easiest ascent is from the southeast of Wysokieho wierchu to a precipitous, westward sloping rock face about 50 m high.

From the top of Rabštín is very nice view of Pieniny, High Tatras and Levoca Hills.
