The parish Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ľubica, dating from the middle of the 13th century, is the largest two-nave church in Spiš.
The church was built in Romanesque style with a square sanctuary. It was quite large, with a magnificent portal on the south side. It acquired its present Gothic character around 1330.
Around 1510 the church was equipped with modern Gothic altars and furnishings from the Levoca workshop of Master Pavel. Among the works created at that time, the main altar was particularly splendid. However, only the altar cabinet with a statue of the Virgin Mary, Jesus and a saint has survived to this day.
The peculiarity is that the whole church is painted with a late baroque illusion painting from 1772. Its author and founder P. Anton Wisniewski is painted on the left side of the sanctuary.
In the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Ľubica it is also worth noticing early gothic rosette window, which is one of the oldest monuments of the church. This type of rosette is rare in Slovakia and occurs mainly in western France on Romanesque architecture.
