The Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is the dominant feature of the village of Brestov. The parish church was built by the study foundation in 1782. This year is also inscribed on the facade of the church above the main entrance door.
The parish church and the main altar are dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is indicated by the statue in the central niche of the main altar. An impressive part of the church is an igloo-shaped tower topped with an artistically made iron cross. Since 1910 there have been three bells imported from the bell-maker František Egry.
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is situated in the northeastern part of the village of Brestov in the northern forests. The view of the entrance area, i.e. the space between the street and the main church door, enhances the outer ring fortification around the church.
The Inventory of Monuments in Slovakia records the damage and repair works of the church after the earthquake in 1813. The history of the Domus details the renovation of the church or rectory in each year and the work associated with the various repairs, quantifying the financial costs.
