Discover the castles in the Prešov region! During the summer and autumn you can collect competition stamps from visiting eight castles and write a castle travelogue. There are interesting prizes up for grabs!
Whoever visits the most castles in the shortest time and writes the most engaging travelogue about it will win the first edition of the Castle Marathon with interesting prizes. The Castle Marathon also includes a competition for a unique royal crown inlaid with stones from ten castles. Anyone who receives at least three castle stamps and stays in the Prešov region can enter the draw for the crown. The stamps can be obtained for visiting the eight selected castles and during castle events.
Tourists can find competition leaflets for collecting stamps at castle lodges, in the castle grounds (where it is possible to get a stamp) and in information centres in Prešov, Stary Smokovec, Tatranská Lomnica, Poprad and other places.
"The Castle Marathon is a campaign to promote tourism in Eastern Slovakia. Every visitor who comes to the castle, buys a souvenir, refreshment, makes a voluntary donation or pays an entrance fee will help in the continuation of the restoration of the castle ruins," said the author of the project and the initiator of the castle restoration Martin Sárossy.
Most of the efforts to save castle ruins are made in the Prešov region. In cooperation with the labour offices and with the involvement of the unemployed, as well as in the form of volunteer activities, up to 13 castles. These castles cooperate with each other and prepared joint calendar of events. On eight castles Šariš, Brekov, Jasenov, Šebeš, Čičva, Kamenica, Kapušany and Plaveč the general public can look forward to events from July to October. Castle stamps will always be available for competition during these events. As part of the events, the castles will also be joined by Stropkov Castlewhich is the least preserved of these castles.
COMPETITION FOR THE ROYAL CROWN:
Get at least three stamps from the eight castles shown on the back of the leaflet and confirm your overnight stay in an accommodation facility in the Prešov region from June to October 2018 in the form of a stamp on the leaflet.
Send a photo of the flyer with stamps and completed registration form to hradnymaraton@gmail.com. As many ballots as you get stamps from as many castles (up to 8 total) will be placed in the osudio. The draw will take place at the autumn conference on saving castles. Find the location and date at www.zachranmehrady.sk
THE COMPETITION FOR THE MOST TRACEABLE:
Write a travelogue from your castle marathon and publish it on the internet (e.g. hiking.sk, podmevon.sk, your own blog, etc.) and send the link of your travelogue to hradnymaraton@gmail.com
The winner will be the one who describes how to visit and get to know the most castles in Slovakia:
- for 1 day - the winner will receive publications about castles,
- for 2 days - the winner will receive a tablet from KOCR Northeast of Slovakia,
- for 3 days - the winner gets a stay for 2 persons for 1 night with breakfast in KÚPEĽOCH RED CLASSIC Smerdžonka in the HOUSE OF HEALTH.
The travelogues entered in the competition and the date of the announcement of the results will be published on www.hrad.wbl.sk
