Ten reasons to visit the Bardejov Spa

The Bardejov Spa has ten springs, which spring on a relatively small area in the inner spa area and eight of them are introduced to the indoor Spa Colonnade - the only one of its kind in Slovakia, where they are used for internal balneotherapy in the form of drinking cures. Bardejov mineral water is natural-medicinal, weakly to moderately mineralized, hydrogen carbonate-chloride, sodium, ferric carbonic, cold, hypotonic, with increased content of boric acid. The amount of elements in the water varies from spring to spring and therefore the usual treatment doses are determined by the physician depending on the indication and the client's state of health. The waters are used especially for drinking cures, mineral baths and inhalations. The most popular source of  Is Hercules. The composition is the strongest mineralized spring in Slovakia and belongs among the the most important in Central Europe. It helps to increase the sexual appetite of both men and women. It is drunk similarly to other Bardejov springs - three times a day for two decimals, usually before meals. Hercules has proved its worth in diabetes, stomach and duodenal diseases and respiratory diseases, especially because its iodine content is particularly beneficial in eliminating phlegm.

2. The broadest therapeutic indication

Bardejovské kúpele, a. s., has the widest indication focus of all Slovak spas, all diseases are treated here except mental and skin diseases. Oncological diseases, circulatory and digestive diseases, metabolic and endocrine disorders, non-tuberculous respiratory diseases, occupational diseases, kidney and urinary tract diseases, as well as musculoskeletal diseases and women's diseases are treated here. In 2013, treatment of nervous diseases was added.

3. Wide range of spa and wellness services

Basic medical treatments are provided in the well-equipped Balneocentre, which can be accessed by connecting corridors "in slippers" from the three main spa hotels - Ozón, Alžbeta and Alexander. In the season it also operates outdoor swimming pool. However, the most attractive facility is the Wellness Spa at the Ozón Hotel with water and sauna world. The water world consists of a recreational and quiet pool with attractions such as water bowl, water cannon, hydromassage jets, bottom bead, tubular lounger, air bench, counter-current, LED downlights built into the walls of the pool, but also children's pool with attractions. Sauna World consists of saunas such as dry, steam, herbal and also includes a one-stage infrared sauna, tepidarium, Kneipp foot bath, ice bucket, torrential shower, tropical and massage shower. The Alexander Congress Hotel also has its own spa, albeit slightly smaller than the Ozone, but which Alexander guests can also use free of charge. In the Alexander Wellness Hotel guests will find everything they need to relax in one place - whirlpool, Finnish and steam sauna, cooling pool, rain shower, tropical and massage shower, tepidarium, fitness room, various massages.

4. Rich history

They are one of the oldest spas with the longest tradition of providing spa services. The first mention of the Bardejov Spa dates back to 1247, when King Béla IV of Hungary donated the area of today's spa and its springs to the town of Bardejov. The spa has long been one of the most sought-after not only at home, but also in the world. In 1895, the wife of Franz Joseph I. Empress Elizabeth, called Sisi, whose statue stands out in the spa park. He also stayed here Austro-Hungarian Emperor Joseph II. (1783), Marie Louise, later wife of Emperor Napoleon (1809), Tsar Alexander I of Russia. (1821) a Queen of Poland Maria Kazimiera Sobieska, wife of Polish King John III. Sobieski.

5. Only here you can feel like Empress Sisi

Only 96 euros per day a lady (or gentleman) will pay at the current (temporary) starting prices for Empress Sisi's suite in the newly opened renovated Hotel Elisabeth. It works out at 81 euros per day for a couple. The tempting starting prices include stay in a luxurious, period furnished two-room apartment, where the Austrian Empress and Queen Elisabeth of Hungary lived (called Sisi) during her healing stay in the Bardejov Spa in 1895. The apartment also includes large terrace directly above the entrance to the hotel, from which you can enjoy an amazing view of the entire spa. On the terrace you can sunbathe or lounge on the sun loungers.

 On the ground floor, next to the reception, guests can (for a fee) see the Sisi Museum Apartment. Here you will see a memorial room with a selection of Sisi photographs and paintings. At the reception, visitors can borrow literature on Sisi, her family, her stay in the Bardejov Spa, souvenirs and memorabilia, jewellery, medallions...

The Bardejov Spa has become a destination not only for healing and relaxation stays, but also for traditional also for culture.  9. Bardejov - UNESCO city
