The images submitted to the photography competition "Go and shoot" are already going before the jury, chaired this year by photographer Jano Štovka (MQEP). In the 9th edition of the photo competition, he has enlisted the help of his colleagues as well as artists. The four-member jury will announce the first three places in six categories:
- Nature
- Culture, traditions and history
- Sport and leisure activities
- Black & white
- Man and Region (portraits, interesting photographs from the life of ordinary inhabitants of the region)
- Architecture (photos of buildings - interior, exterior)
As in previous years, there will be no shortage of photographs honoured with a special title:
- Grand Prix
- Chairman of the Jury Award
- Public Award
- Northeast Slovakia Award
As it is customary in this photography competition, the jury is composed of professional photographers. Two of its members are holders of the highest photographic award given in Europe - the Master Qualified European Photographer (MQEP). This title belongs to the aforementioned chairman Jan Štovek and his colleague from the Association of Professional Photographers of the Slovak Republic Martin Krystýnek, who judged the Go and Shoot images in the previous year. The four-member jury will be completed by another member of the APFSR, Marián Kuric, who has participated in this photography competition in the past. The last name, perhaps a bit surprising to some, is Peter Bič - the frontman, great guitarist and hitmaker of the Peter Bič Project, who represents the artistic component and aesthetic sensibility in the jury.
More than 700 images have been submitted for the 9th edition of the Go and Shoot photo competition. In addition to the winners, the jury will also determine the photographs with the attribute "honorable mention". These will be part of a travelling exhibition consisting of approximately 50 images. The opening of the exhibition as well as the awarding of the winners is scheduled for the beginning of December. Together with them, the photographers awarded in the previous year of the competition will receive their prizes, as the opening was not held due to the pandemic situation. This year, the opening will take place on the basis of the epidemic measures in force, based on the methodology of Covid Automata.
