PRESOV (21 July 2017) - Check out the news for holiday visitors at castles in the Šariš region. Visitors to the castles of Šariš, Kapušany, Kamenica, Soľnohrad and Šebeš can enjoy fun and relaxation, as well as sport and voluntary work on their restoration.
The Regional Tourism Organisation Región Šariš has prepared a summary of current activities at five castles in the districts of Prešov and Sabinov.
Tourist infrastructure at Šariš Castle is growing
Šariš Castle offers 360-degree views of the surrounding landscape. For this reason, the town of Veľký Šariš is trying to complete the viewing platform on the castle dominant - the donjon. During the Šariš Castle Games (10 September 2017), visitors will be able to enjoy the view of seven surrounding castles. The castle is enjoying increasing interest from tourists. Every day, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., tourists can take advantage of the services of two guides. New for tourists is also castle buffet. Tourists can also be helped by the upcoming tourist information centre. Work on it continues at the entrance gate to the castle grounds. There are also plans to increase the number of castle events.
For better accessibility, a new building was added under the castle approximately 40 new parking spaces and work has started on widening the turning lane. In addition to the castle complex, the town of Veľký Šariš is also the construction of the area under the castle. The works were preceded by archaeological research, which revealed a site from the Neolithic period (stone tools). In the future, an archaeoskanzen should be built here. The visible development of the castle is also due to the work of the unemployed. Since 2011, they have been repairing the castle every summer. This year 50 of them are working at the castle, which is the highest number of employees at the castle so far.
Kapušian Castle will have a new entrance gate
Visitors to Kapušany Castle could already notice many improvements last year, which should make their stay at the castle more pleasant. At this time, tourists can see the results of the work on the entrance gate, which will be complemented by a massive wooden gate after the restoration of the masonry. Work is also continuing on cleaning the backfill of the castle tower, where archaeological research is also underway, and on the restoration of the western wall. This is the result of the efforts of the municipality of Kapušany and the team of workers who have so far been registered as jobseekers. From 1 June to the end of November, 20 employees are working every working day on the restoration of the castle.
As of May 2016 the castle is illuminated, In the low season, the castle is illuminated on weekends from 21:00 to 23:00, and during the summer holidays it is illuminated for an hour longer each evening. For more than a year it has also been open lookout on the castle towerto which 74 steps lead. The ascent to the tower is for a voluntary contribution of € 1, with a discount for children, students and pensioners. According to statistics kept by the castle's administrator, Zdeno Petrásek, 11,200 people enjoyed the view from the tower between June and October 2016. "Since March 2017, 5,500 people have visited the castle, and we only track attendance during working hours. During the holidays there are around 50 - 60 tourists a day." Zdeno Petrásek, the administrator of Kapušany Castle, informed about the attendance.
Information centre at the castle is open daily, except Mondays, from 10:00 to 18:00. Visitors can also take advantage of the guided tours and the central fireplace. Children can play with special wooden toys, made in the historical spirit. Regular event called Return of the Knights, is scheduled for 3 September. Spectators will once again enjoy jousting, theatre, period music, dancing and food.
Kamenica Castle has a restored medieval pond
Work on the restoration of Kamenica Castle continues this year only in the form of volunteer brigades. Archaeologists who carried out research on the eastern palace also helped the castle in this way. During the summer, several brigades are planned to complete the restoration of the East Palace. "Every visitor to the castle can contribute to the restoration by bringing at least one stone needed for the palace's renovation, to which they will be directed by new information boards," said Michaela Haviarová from the Stone Tower Association.
Kamenice Castle is one of the few castles that can boast restored medieval castle pond, where a rest area for tourists is currently being landscaped. A new feature is the release of publications about the castle, where leading experts summarized all the latest knowledge about the castle. "On the second weekend in August there are two events waiting for visitors to the castle, on 12 August Night of castle ruins and on 13 August already 11th year Castle festivities with a rich cultural programme," added M. Haviarová.
Foreign volunteers help Salt Lake
At Saltworks, nad obcou Ruská Nová Ves, v tomto čase prebieha Medzinárodný tábor dobrovoľníckej práce. Jedenásť dobrovoľníkov z 9 krajín sa podieľa na obnove hradu s cieľom zastaviť eróziu a zakonzervovať hradné murivo. Popri archeologickom výskume sa odkrývajú zvyšky nadzemných murív.
Výsledky práce budú odprezentované na lúke pod Soľnohradom, ktorá bude dejiskom prvého hradného podujatia vôbec – Hradné slávnosti v Ruskej Novej Vsi, 1. septembra. Soľnohrad, ktorý je verejnosti známy aj ako Zbojnícky hrad, sa na konci letnej turistickej sezóny bude môcť popýšiť aj novinkou v podobe náučného chodníka. Jeho tvorba momentálne prebieha vďaka finančnej podpore z programu Nadácie Ekopolis.
Hradné hody v Podradíku budú opäť
Shebes Castle, pri obci Podhradík, bude 6. augusta lákať návštevníkov na hradné chute, vône a pôžitky. Program hradných hodov spestria šermiari, atrakcie pre deti, folklórne vystúpenia. Pre malých aj veľkých sú pripravené sprievodcovské prehliadky a krátke divadelné prestavenia.
V blízkosti hradu Šebeš sa toto leto môžu jeho návštevníci aj ubytovať. Penzión u Cipíska bude už čoskoro ponúkať svoje ubytovacie kapacity pre 13 hostí. Výlet na hrad Šebeš si tak turisti môžu rozšíriť o jazdu na koni, prehliadku zverofarmy spojenú s ochutnávkou domácich produktov, lov rýb a grilovačku. Budúci zámer rozšíriť služby aj o stravovanie možno prispeje k tomu, aby turisti strávili v regióne Šariš viac času.
Zábavné objavovanie hradov so súťažou LETOHRAD 2017
Obnovené hrady v Prešovskom kraji prezentuje počas leta súťaž LETOHRAD. spolu predstavuje desať obnovených hradov a hradisko Lipany. Súťažiť je možné prostredníctvom aplikácie Objavujme a tiež zbieraním pečiatok počas 11 hradných podujatí.
Súťaž s aplikáciou: V aplikácii „Objavujme“ nájdu hráči hru Letohrad, v nej stačí navštíviť hrad (lokalizovať sa na mieste cez GPS v hre), odfotiť sa a odpovedať na kvízovú otázku. Ďalšie body môžu hráči získať počas podujatí, vďaka bonusovým úlohám. Cieľom hry je podporiť návštevnosť na 11-tich zapojených hradoch, na ktoré sa vďaka postupujúcej obnove vracia život Pre najlepšieho hradného objaviteľa je pripravené kráľovské žezlo a pre ďalších 10 hráčov zaujímavé ceny s hradnou tematikou.
Súťaž so zbieraním pečiatok: Počas podujatí môžete zbierať do letáku súťažné pečiatky. Leták s nazbieranými pečiatkami zašlete do žrebovania o unikátnu kráľovskú korunu a ďalšie ceny. Korunu s deviatimi ušľachtilými kameňmi z jednotlivých hradov vyrobil umelecký kováč Michal Kačmár. Letáky sú dostupné na hradoch.
Súťaž LETOHRAD spoločne pripravili zástupcovia obnovených hradov, OZ Rákociho cesta a KOCR Severovýchod Slovenska.
