Cyclopathing 2017 culminated in Prešov

PREŠOV (11. 9. 2017) - The fourth year of Cyclopathing through the Prešov Region culminated in the regional city of Prešov on Saturday 9 September. Cyclists explored the natural, cultural and historical attractions of the metropolis of Šariš and its surroundings. At the end of the race, the winner of a Škoda bicycle was drawn and the cycling season was closed by the participants with a common cycling party.

Discovering the attractions of the Prešov Region by bicycle was prepared for the fourth time by KOCR Northeast of Slovakia. In summer 2017, cyclists got to know four areas of the region. In June, the Cyclopatrices started with a race in Červený Kláštor (Pieniny), in July the cyclists got to know Svidník and its surroundings, in August they went to the Slovak-Polish border area with a start in Maly Lipník. Almost 100 competitors came to Prešov on 9 September. The start and finish was in the area of Stara Dúbrava. The event was also part of the European Heritage Days 2017. 

There were 15 competition places, which cyclists could choose during the 5-hour time limit. Which competition sites they visited was again decided by the competitors themselves according to their abilities and interests. Each competition site was scored with competition points, cyclists gained them by locating themselves through the Let's Discover app.

The choices were not only famous attractions such as the Prešov Calvary, the Garden of Art, Šariš Castle or the Church of St. Stephen in Solivar. Cyclists could also discover theThe miraculous image that hides the church in Nižná Šebastová, the Sisi well in Sigord, the mysterious Devil's Stone in Borkut, the unusual gallery of wooden statues in Janov, the wooden church in Brežany or the monument to Jonáš Záborský in Župčany. New products added in 2017 were also presented through the competition venues - discgolf in the rest area at Borkut and waterway to Solnohrad with start in Ruska Nova Ves. For cyclists were also prepared materials on cross-border cooperation between Slovakia and Poland in the framework of development and promotion in the cross-border cooperation programme Interreg V-A Poland - Slovakia 2014 - 2020.

Final draw for the winner of the bike and other prizes:
After the evaluation of the Cyclopathing in Prešov took place final prize drawthat have donated: Š-Autoservis Vranov n. Topľou, Bicycles SG Prešov, the Prešov Self-governing Region and the race organizer KOCR Northeast of Slovakia. For each participation in the Cyclopathlon, cyclists received a ticket for the final draw. Among the prizes were gift bags, vouchers from SG Bicycles Prešov, a solar charger and a tablet.
